About Pawsitively Reunited

On May 26, 2021, a landscaper, employed by Shannon accidently left the gate open and both her dogs went for an adventure.

Gage, the 14-year-old golden retriever and Griffin, the 10-year-old chocolate lab wandered out and down the road. Although Shannon was always careful to close the gates, this was not their first time getting out, and the neighbors were familiar with the two dogs.

Gage was located quickly by a neighbor and returned to his home, but Griffin had vanished. Shannon began searching for the 100-pound lab immediately. In the late May heat, she spent hours out in a field behind her house trying to locate her missing dog.

There was no sign. After a couple of days, her family and friends joined the search, but by June, there was still no sign. Shannon was determined to find this integral member of her family. So, she started reaching out for help. Before long, signs for the missing chocolate lab were everywhere.

Facebook and Nextdoor became inundated with requests for information about Griffin. As they drove through neighborhoods in Austin and Round Rock, they would talk to individuals outside who would inform us that they were already on the lookout for Griffin. At one point during the search, people were so desperate to find the dog that one woman, after seeing a chocolate lab on another person's front porch, tried to take the dog to Shannon to verify it was not her "Gentle Giant".

However, there were few signs, and hope was dwindling. Shannon refused to give up. For more than a year, Shannon has searched for Griffin. To date, he has not been located. She refuses to give up. A pet can disappear in an instant.

One careless mistake can take a turn for the worse and a beloved family member can be lost forever.

And Still No Griffin
But All Is Not Lost

There are some amazing bright spots that have come out of this horrible situation. Shannon helped reunite many missing dogs with their owners and adopted two dogs whose owners were never found. During the height of her search, Shannon met many people wanting to help find Griffin.

One person in particular, Piper, was so touched by their story that she not only wanted to find Griffin but also wanted to figure out how to solve the problems Shannon was experiencing with her search.

Piper approached Shannon with an idea she had about how to improve and solve some of the issues related to finding and reuniting pets with their owners.

This was the beginning of The Griffin's Hope Foundation, the formation of Pawsitively Reunited, and the start of a beautiful friendship.
